Neck Lift

A neck lift, also known as neck rejuvenation, is a surgical procedure designed to improve the overall appearance of the neck. Neck rejuvenation surgery can address a number of aesthetic concerns, including sagging skin, excess fat and neck contour irregularities. A youthful neck can be a highly effective way to create an overall younger and fresher appearance.

The neck does not lie, but a neck lift keeps the secret

A neck lift is a procedure that improves the aesthetics of the neck and jawline. The neck is often the first area to sag as we age, revealing our true age or, in the worst case scenario, making us look older than we are. The aim of a neck lift is to create a more youthful appearance by reducing or removing excess skin, tightening underlying muscles and removing or repositioning fat, if necessary. In some cases, combining a neck lift with a facelift may be advisable.

When to consider a neck lift?

  • If you have sagging or drooping skin on the neck, creating a ‘turkey neck’ appearance
  • If you have fat deposits on your neck that persist despite a healthy diet and regular exercise
  • If you want to improve the contours of your neck and jawline

Additional information on the procedure

How is the procedure performed?

Neck lift is usually performed under general anaesthesia, meaning the patient is asleep. The surgeon makes one or more incisions in the neck, depending on the goal and the correction needed. The incisions are usually made behind the ears and sometimes under the chin. The surgeon may then remove excess skin, tighten the neck muscles and remove or reposition fat tissue. Finally, the incisions are closed with stitches.

Recovery

Recovery from a neck lift can take several weeks. There may be some swelling, bruising and discomfort in the first few days after surgery, which can be relieved with painkillers prescribed by your doctor. Full recovery and final results may take a few months.

Risks

As with any surgical procedure, a neck lift carries certain risks, including infection, bleeding, anaesthesia complications and variability in results. It is important to choose an experienced surgeon and discuss all possible risks and expectations regarding the results of the surgery.

Results

A neck lift can significantly improve the appearance and confidence of the neck, providing a more youthful and refreshed look. It is important to understand that results are individual and that the rejuvenation effect is not permanent; the ageing process continues even after surgery.

Before considering a neck lift, it is important to consult with a surgeon who will assess your suitability for the procedure, explain the entire process and answer all your questions honestly.
